Should you land at Naples or Salerno?

Naples Capodichino lies northwest of the Amalfi Coast, while Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport lies to the southeast, in the Pontecagnano Faiano area. An arrival for Positano or Praiano requires a different comparison from one for Amalfi or Ravello, and driving estimates should use the property’s exact address.

Naples is an established gateway for the Sorrento peninsula and the western side of the coast. Salerno can be worth considering particularly for Amalfi, Ravello and the eastern stretch. A short distance on the map may still involve an indirect road journey.

Some local flights may be in the region of 20–40 minutes, but that is only a preliminary reference: the departure point, authorised destination, route and aircraft determine the actual duration. Add the transfer to the departure point, briefing, loading and any final drive. The useful comparison runs from leaving your jet to reaching the villa, not simply minutes spent airborne.

Properties may be reached along narrow lanes, pedestrian routes or stairways, so access needs to be checked for your chosen villa rather than assumed. Ask where the vehicle journey ends, how far remains to the entrance and whether there are steps.

For travellers with young children, older relatives or reduced mobility, this information can matter more than saving a few minutes at the airport. Also establish whether the proposed vehicle can reach the intended drop-off point. Any assistance with carrying luggage should be arranged on request rather than treated as something automatically provided.

How much flexibility should you allow, including departure day?

Avoid building your first day around an exact arrival minute. A restaurant reservation, boat departure or closely timed appointment can turn a small delay into several changes. If you wish to continue by sea, a boat transfer can be arranged on request, but it introduces a further journey to the port and remains dependent on sea conditions.

For your return flight, work backwards from the reporting time specified by your aircraft operator, allowing for the drive and an additional traffic margin agreed with your driver. Private aviation flexibility does not make airport hours, permissions or crew constraints irrelevant. Nor should the outward drive determine your departure-day schedule: the route and traffic may be different.
